How it works
Mifflin-St Jeor estimates resting energy from kg, cm and age: 10×kg + 6.25×cm − 5×age, then +5 (male equation) or −161 (female equation). Those two constants are how the paper coded sex — they are not a statement about any individual.
The result is kcal per day at rest, not total daily burn. For TDEE, use the calorie calculator, which multiplies this BMR by an activity factor.
