Choose a birth month and day to see the next birthday from today, the weekday it falls on, and how many days are left.
How it works
The next birthday is the next occurrence of that month and day on or after today’s local calendar date. If it is already that date, the countdown is 0 — the birthday is today. If it has passed this year, the tool uses next year. 29 February birthdays wait for the next leap year rather than substituting 28 February or 1 March.
Formula
Next birthday = first valid month/day on or after today Days remaining = next birthday − today (calendar days)
Worked examples
- 25 December, from 1 December 2024 → 24 days, Wednesday 25 December 2024
- 29 February, from 1 March 2023 → 29 February 2024
Useful notes
- Today is taken from this browser’s local calendar date.
- 29 February uses the next real leap day, not 28 February.

- What if today is the birthday?
- Days remaining is 0. The next birthday date is today.
- What if someone was born on 29 February?
- The countdown targets the next 29 February in a leap year. It does not move the date to 28 February or 1 March.
- Do I need to enter a birth year?
- No. Only month and day are used, so the tool does not compute age.
