Enter a length in feet to see the equivalent in metres. Uses the international foot, not a survey-foot approximation.

How it works

Since 1959 the international foot has been defined as exactly 0.3048 metres. Multiplying feet by 0.3048 therefore needs no conversion-table rounding. A 6-foot height is 1.8288 m. The older US survey foot (1200/3937 m) is slightly different and is not used here.

Is this the US survey foot?: No. This uses the international foot (0.3048 m exactly). The survey foot is a tiny fraction longer and is being retired.
