How it works
Cost per kilometre is total cost divided by distance. If a 300 km trip cost 45, that is 0.15 per km. The total can be fuel only or a bundle you already added up (fuel, tolls, parking). This page does not estimate litres — it only divides two numbers you supply. Distance 0 is undefined.
Formula
Cost per km = total cost ÷ distance (km)
Worked examples
- 45 over 300 km → 0.15 per km
- 8 over 20 km → 0.40 per km
Useful notes
- Units of money are whatever you enter; the result is in the same currency per kilometre.
- For fuel litres from consumption, use Fuel Cost or Road Trip Cost.
FAQ
- Should the total include tolls?
- If you want fully loaded cost per km, yes. If you want fuel only, enter the fuel spend alone.
- Can I use miles?
- Convert miles to kilometres first (Miles to KM), then divide. This page is per kilometre only.
- Why is zero distance blocked?
- You cannot divide by zero. The tool shows an error instead of Infinity.
